Blake Lively feels like a “tranny” because she’s tall?

Ugh, the girls at Amazona Style blog reminded me to post about a quote I saw from Blake Lively, the 5′10″ star of CW’s Gossip Girl. For those who don’t know the show, she’s thin, knock-out gorgeous, and is often displayed (on the show) in wardrobes that display her, erm, boobs quite prominently.

blake-lively

On talking about her “larger” frame, she said in a recent interview:

“I feel like a tranny a lot of the time. I don’t know, I’m … large? They put me in six-inch heels, and I tower over every man. I’ve got this long hair and lots of clothes and makeup on. I just feel really big a lot of the time, and I’m surrounded by a lot of tiny people. I feel like a man sometimes.”

Now, I actually can sympathize with her feelings, particularly as someone both 6 inches taller and two cup sizes smaller. Buuuut, as a celebrity and role model, you’d think she’d be a little smarter about not reinforcing these ideas. I mean, if she’s saying this, how does she expect her non-airbrushed fans to feel?

Plus, what an annoying whiner!

She so gorgeous but sooooo annoying! I’m 6′3″ so its kinda irritating to here a 5′10″ “shrimp” complaing about her height.

I am like 5′9 and I feel the same way she does sometimes. I think it would be totally dumb of her to lie about feeling confident about her height 100% of the time if she doesn’t really feel that way. If she feels like a transvestite because of her height, well, that’s her honest feelings. I actually appreciate hearing a celebrity admit something like this because I am always told I should LOVE being so tall and ALL the girls wanna be tall- so I feel sort of embarrassed that I am not as confident about my height. It feels good to hear a celebrity admit to a height complex. Makes me feel somewhat normal.
And to Miya above me- you don’t have to be 6′3 to be considered tall but I am sure you probably already know that. Us 5′9’s still get the basketball player/model comments on a regular basis. It’s amazing that after 26 years of being tall, the comments are still annoying……

I’m 6′2 and have always felt the way Blake does. So to have her be honest about it, makes me feel like I’m not the only one out there with this issue. So I actually appreciate her honesty.
